The much-awaited racing event of Formula One is all set to be started from July 5 in Austria after getting the green light from the government.

Formula One said it expects to have between 15 and 18 races in total, with the season being completed in December this year.

The Hungarian Grand Prix will be brought forward to July 19 before a two-week break, followed by consecutive races in Britain and events in Spain, Italy, and Belgium. All will likely be run behind closed doors while participants must adhere to strict safety protocols.

Regular medical checkups will be conducted with the number of team members and race staff at the venue also reduced.

Silverstone will host two races in Britain on Aug. 2 and 9, with the Spanish Grand Prix set for Barcelona on Aug. 16.

The Belgian and Italian Grands Prix will take place on their original dates of Aug. 30 and Sept. 6, completing the European part of the season. Each event will also include the Formula 2 and Formula 3 categories.

Earlier the government of Austria has given a go-ahead to Grand Prix to start its crowd-free season from July 5 and 12.

The country’s health ministry has confirmed that Formula One can start its season in Austria with two races behind closed doors scheduled on July 5 and July 12 2020. The delayed championship was planned to be held in Australia, however, canceled due to the rising cases of novel coronavirus cases in the country.

The Austrian Grand Prix circuit is near the village of Spielberg about 200 km (124 miles) southwest of the capital Vienna.  Formula One is expected to publish a revamped calendar early next week with a race in neighboring Hungary, also without spectators, following on from Austria. Formula 1 teams are allowed a maximum of 80 personnel in the paddock, although the addition of the track’s support and medical staff means that number will still be over 1000.
