Lionel Messi, the star footballer and captain of Argentina, broke the internet with an Instagram photo of himself with the golden FIFA World Cup 2022 trophy after his team won one of the most-anticipated sports events of the year.

Messi’s post got so many likes, shares, and comments that they went through the roof. Even Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, said something about it.

Argentina’s third World Cup win has been one of the most talked-about things in the world over the last few days. Football fans in the country and all over the world have been happy about it.

Zuckerberg posted on his Facebook page that the winning captain’s post has become the most liked on the site for sharing photos and videos.

“Leo Messi’s World Cup post is now the most liked in Instagram history. WhatsApp also reached a record 25 million messages per second during the final,” wrote the CEO, Meta.

In his most-liked post, Messi thanked everyone in Spanish for their support.

“WORLD CHAMPIONS!!!!!!! I dreamed it so many times, I wanted it so much that I still haven’t fallen, I can’t believe it……” he wrote

“We demonstrate once again that Argentines when we fight together and united we are capable of achieving what we set out to do,” the post said.

On December 18, Argentina won the World Cup by beating the defending champions, France, 4-2 on penalties after extra time ended in a 3-3 tie.

Kingsley Coman’s penalty was saved by Emiliano Martinez, and Aurelien Tchouameni’s shot went wide, giving Argentina its first world title since 1986 and third overall.

France came back from being down by two goals to tie the game after 90 minutes. Kylian Mbappe scored twice in two minutes, including a penalty in the 80th minute.
