Following his outstanding performance against Australia in the Perth Test, Pakistan’s bowler Aamer Jamal was praised by prominent commentator and former West Indies cricketer Ian Bishop.
On the second day, Australia lost their first inning at 487 when Jamal, making his debut, took six wickets for Pakistan.
Jamal was in form as he took four of the five wickets that fell to Australia during their batting on the second day. Finishing with numbers of 6 for 111 was the right-armer.
Bishop stated, “That’s a Test debut that Aamer Jamal won’t forget,” on X, the previous Twitter platform.
Before Jamal, Wahab Riaz, Tanvir Ahmed, Bilal Asif, Nauman Ali, Abrar Ahmed, Mohammad Nazir, Shahid Nazir, Mohammad Zahid, Shahid Afridi, Mohammad Sami, Shabbir Ahmed, and Yasir Arafat had also claimed five wickets in their Test debuts.
After Arif Butt, Jamal is the only other Pakistani to accomplish this feat on Australian territory. This achievement was claimed by Butt in Melbourne in 1964.
Additionally, these were the sixth-best bowling stats for a Pakistani player making their Test debut.
