Pakistan – Seasoned cricketer Shoaib Malik has etched his name in the annals of Pakistan cricket by becoming the first Pakistani batter to score 1000 fours in T20 cricket.

Malik achieved this remarkable feat during the match between Sialkot Region and Rawalpindi Region in the ongoing National T20 Cup at the UBL Sports Complex in Karachi on Sunday.

This milestone not only cements Malik’s position as one of Pakistan’s most prolific T20 players but also elevates him to an elite group of international cricketers. Only eight players in the history of the sport have managed to score 1000 fours in T20 cricket, and Malik proudly joins this exclusive circle.

Malik’s accomplishment is further enhanced by the fact that he also became the only Pakistani cricketer to have scored 400 sixes in T20 cricket. His innings of 84 off 56 balls, studded with 10 boundaries, helped Sialkot set a competitive target of 164 runs, but Rawalpindi successfully chased down the target with eight balls to spare.

Malik’s insatiable hunger for runs extends beyond this milestone. He has expressed his desire to surpass Chris Gayle’s record for most runs in T20 cricket. With 12,843 runs in 482 innings, Malik trails Gayle by 1719 runs. Given his dedication to fitness and his consistent performances, it is not far-fetched to imagine Malik breaking Gayle’s record in the coming years.

Malik’s longevity and resilience are remarkable. He made his international debut for Pakistan in October 1999 against West Indies at Sharjah and has continued to excel at the top level for an astonishing 24 years. His career has spanned various formats, including ODIs, Tests, and T20Is, showcasing his versatility and adaptability as a cricketer.
