On Monday, the Sunrisers Hyderabad set a new record for the highest total in a single Indian Premier League (IPL) season, rewriting history once again.

The team, known for their orange jerseys, scored 287 against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, surpassing their previous record of 277 runs set against the Mumbai Indians.

SRH openers Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head provided a robust start for the team, establishing a solid 108-run partnership and putting on a spectacular performance at the Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru.

The Australian opener also achieved the fourth-fastest century in IPL history, the fastest ever for the Hyderabad franchise.

However, Reece Topley managed to dismiss Sharma at 34 runs, providing a much-needed breakthrough for RCB.

The run-scoring spree continued as Heinrich Klaasen scored 67 runs in just 31 balls, which included 7 sixes.

Towards the end of the innings, Abdul Samad kept up the momentum, smashing 37 runs in just 10 balls, which included 4 fours and 3 sixes, at a strike rate of 370.

RCB captain Faf du Plessis won the toss and chose to bowl against SRH. Glenn Maxwell and Mohammed Siraj, who have had subpar performances this season, were not included in the RCB playing XI, while right-arm fast bowler Lockie Ferguson was added to the team.

SRH captain Pat Cummins will enter the match with an unchanged team.
