Following Pakistan’s significant defeat by an innings and 47 runs in the first Test against England, there are strong indications that Shan Masood’s time as Test captain may be coming to an end. Sources reveal that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is contemplating a leadership change after the ongoing series.

Masood’s captaincy challenges have been mounting, highlighted by a 0-3 series loss to Australia and a historic 0-2 defeat at home to Bangladesh, marking Pakistan’s first-ever Test series loss to that team. The recent setback against England leaves Pakistan trailing 0-1 in the current three-match series.

Insiders suggest that a replacement for Masood could be announced before Pakistan’s upcoming tour of South Africa. Mohammad Rizwan and Salman Agha are reportedly the leading candidates to assume the Test captaincy.

Pakistan will aim to recover in the second Test against England, scheduled to take place from October 15-19 at the same venue.
