LONDON: From the football pitch to the battle royale island, David Beckham is the latest global icon to make his Fortnite debut.
Epic Games has officially welcomed the former England captain to its Icon Series, giving fans the chance to play as one of football’s most recognisable figures through an exclusive collection of in-game cosmetics.
The collaboration celebrates both Beckham’s legendary playing career and his life after retirement as co-owner and president of Major League Soccer (MLS) club Inter Miami CF, with two unique character outfits inspired by each chapter of his journey.
Players can unlock the David Beckham Outfit, featuring his iconic No. 7 football jersey with the option to switch to a shirtless version. The alternate style includes reactive gold tattoos that glow brighter with every elimination during gameplay.
The collection also introduces the Club Owner David Beckham Outfit, dressed in a tailored black suit featuring an Inter Miami-inspired crest, highlighting Beckham’s executive role in football. Both character styles also come with dedicated LEGO Fortnite versions.
In addition to the outfits, the collaboration includes a range of exclusive cosmetics. The “Beckham’s Shot” emote recreates the former footballer’s signature free-kick technique that inspired the famous phrase “Bend It Like Beckham.”
Players will also receive the Meteor Baller Pickaxe, the Number Seven Scythe Pickaxe, which reacts while harvesting weak points, along with the Beckham’s Number and Club Crest back blings, the latter featuring reactive visual effects.
Speaking about the collaboration, Beckham said the partnership offered a new way to connect with fans across the world.
“Fortnite creates new and exciting ways to connect with fans around the world. It’s been great working with them to create something that celebrates my career on and off the pitch,” he said.
Beckham now joins Fortnite’s growing Icon Series, which features some of the biggest names in sports and entertainment.
He becomes part of an elite group of football stars already in the game, including Lionel Messi, Harry Kane, Marco Reus and VinÃcius Júnior, as Epic Games continues to blend football with gaming for millions of players worldwide.
