Microsoft rolls out a new feature to block ‘reply-all’ email storms

Microsoft enables a new feature with a reply-all protection for Office 365 and Exchange Online. The feature is designed to have control on email storms when thousands of people start replying an email thread, he usually forgets to put BCC or misses the distribution list.

Initially this feature will benefit large organizations. When the feature selection detects a reply all storm taking place, it will block attempts to reply all to the thread.

The reply all block will remain in place for several hours. The feature has initially been rolled out to detect 10 reply-all emails to over 5,000 recipients within 60 minutes. It will then block subsequent replies to the thread for 4 hours.

According to Microsoft’s Official statement, “Over time, as we gather usage telemetry and customer feedback, we expect to tweak, fine-tune, and enhance the Reply All Storm Protection feature to make it even more valuable to a broader range of Office 365 customers.”

Earlier, Microsoft has introduced its latest laptops Surface Book 3 and Surface Go 2 tablets along with Surface Airbuds, Surface Headphones 2, Surface Dock 2 and USB-C Travel Hub.
