Vivo Surprises with Android 15 Update Ahead of Google for the First Time
For the first time in history, Vivo has overtaken both Google and Samsung in delivering the latest major Android update. Traditionally, Google’s Pixel or Samsung devices lead the way in rolling out updates, but Vivo announced the release of Android 15 on September 30th, with some users already experiencing the new software.
While Google is still preparing to release Android 15 for the Pixel 9 series, expected by mid-October, and Samsung remains behind without a confirmed schedule, Vivo has already begun rolling out Android 15 with its custom Funtouch OS 15 to select devices, including the Vivo X100 series, Vivo X Fold 3 Pro, and the iQOO 12.
With the Funtouch OS 15 update, Vivo users can now enjoy exciting features built on Android 15, such as the AI-powered “Eraser” tool in the gallery, similar to Google’s Magic Eraser, and a shadow removal tool for more precise photo editing. Another highlight is the Live Transcribe feature, which converts spoken words into text in real-time, a valuable addition for those who are deaf or hard of hearing. Android 15 also introduces Private Space for managing personal apps and secure partial screen sharing.
Vivo has made a historic leap in the Android update race, beating non-Pixel devices for the first time. While the brand currently holds the crown, it remains to be seen if they can maintain their lead in future updates.
