Zelensky claims that the situation in east Ukraine is growing worse
According to President Volodymyr Zelensky, the situation on Ukraine’s eastern front lines is becoming more difficult.
According to Mr. Zelensky, three fiercely disputed towns in Donetsk—Bakhmut, Vuhledar, and Lyman—present highly challenging situations for Ukrainian troops.
According to the UK defence ministry, Ukrainian troops are getting dispersed in troubled Bakhmut.
There are ferocious clashes for every street in some parts of the town, according to the leader of Russia’s infamous Wagner gang.
The fight to retake Bakhmut from Russian soldiers has lasted for months, making it the protracted conflict since Russia invaded Ukraine almost a year ago.
In order to further its goal of dominating the entirety of the Donbas region in the country’s east, Russia needs to take the territory. Additionally, it would represent a turnaround in Russia’s fortunes after it recently lost ground in Ukraine.
Russia has gained ground recently near the Bakhmut region despite the flow of Western weapons into Ukraine as Russia’s army continues to send additional soldiers into battle.
President Zelensky declared in his evening address: “Throughout the 346 days of our conflict, I frequently had to admit that the situation at the front was difficult. and that things are getting more difficult.
“Now is that time again. A time when the occupier throws more and more of its forces to break our defences.”
According to the UK Ministry of Defence, Ukrainian forces in Bakhmut are becoming more and more isolated as Russia makes incremental gains in its drive to encircle the town.
It further mentioned that there was probably direct fire threatening the two main entry points into Bakhmut.
The majority of the fighting in the region has been led by the Russian paramilitary mercenary company Wagner. Russian military personnel “study every day and change tactics”
Yevgeny Prigozhin, the force’s commander, acknowledged that there are “fierce clashes for every street, every house, and every stairwell” in Bakhmut’s northern regions.
He stated that despite rumors to the contrary, Ukrainian soldiers are “fighting to the last” and have not evacuated the town.
As more missiles strike areas of eastern Ukraine, fights are taking place on the front lines.
According to Oleg Sinegubov, the chairman of the Kharkiv regional administration, strikes on civilian structures in the city of Kharkiv in Ukraine’s northeast resulted in five casualties.
According to Pavlo Kyrylenko, the chairman of the regional administration for Donetsk, five further people were hurt during rocket attacks in the area. He added that four more people had died in the Donetsk region the day before.
