US President Donald Trump told a roomful of global leaders “I’m the boss”, at morning session of the last day of the G7 summit on Wednesday (June 17) on the closing day of a summit in France.
As he walked into the morning session on the final day of the three-day summit, Trump said, “I’m the boss,” while the other leaders were already seated.
People laughed, and Macron seemed to take the comment lightly. He simply asked, “How are you?”
Trump replied, “Good, thank you.” Before becoming president, Trump was a businessman who hosted the TV show The Apprentice, known for the line “You’re fired!”, and then he took his seat.
After helping reach an agreement to end the war with Iran and celebrating his 80th birthday, Trump has played a major role throughout the summit in Evian, a spa town near Lake Geneva.
French officials are pleased that Trump stayed for the full event and agreed to the G7 statement, unlike the previous summit in Canada where he left early.
In a special gesture, Macron has invited Trump for dinner at the Palace of Versailles near Paris after the summit ends on Wednesday afternoon.
Macron, who is being careful not to seem too flattering toward Trump, has already said the dinner at Versailles will not be a formal “gala” event.
