US President Donald Trump has said that the signing ceremony for a potential agreement between the United States and Iran was briefly delayed due to the recent Israeli attack, but stressed that the deal remains close to completion.
According to US media reports, Trump stated that the agreement with Iran is expected to be finalized within the next few hours, while the previously planned signing ceremony had to be temporarily postponed.
The US president also revealed that he held a telephone conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu following the latest developments in Lebanon and Israel’s military action. The two leaders discussed the broader regional tensions and their potential impact on ongoing diplomatic efforts.
Trump said he directly asked Netanyahu why the operation had been carried out under the current circumstances. In response, the Israeli prime minister reportedly assured him that similar attacks would be avoided in the future.
According to Donald Trump, this assurance has helped ease tensions in the region and created an opportunity for diplomacy to move forward.
He added that negotiations between the United States and Iran are progressing in a positive direction and expressed hope that both sides would soon reach a final agreement.
