ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Marriyum Aurangzeb on Friday said the cabinet approved 15 per cent raise in government servants’ salaries, while a good news about pensioners will also be announced.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Marriyum Aurangzeb said the budget which was going to be announced on Friday (today) would provide relief to the masses.

Despite the economic destruction, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif was thinking about giving relief to the masses, she said. “The time has passes when the prime minister keeps sleeping and the dollar gets expensive. It is a difficult time so the masses should support the government,” she added.

She said the government was trying to minimize the inflation given by former prime minister Imran Khan. The budget would provide economic stability and relief to the masses, she maintained.

“The government is going to make historical announcements for youth, agriculture, IT and industries,” she said.

Marriyum claimed that all the things including tomato, potato and onion would now be available cheaply. The government was thinking about welfare of the people, she said.

The National Assembly (NA) to convene an important session today during which the federal budget for the fiscal year 2022-23 (FY 2022-23) will be presented.

As per details, the incumbent government is all set to present the budget in today’s NA session at 4pm under the chairmanship of the Speaker. Finance Minister Miftah Ismail will be presenting the budget for the next fiscal year in the House.

Sources privy to the matter have disclosed that the budget has been designed keeping the current economic challenges on the national and international fronts in view.

In light of the possible ruckus, strict security measures will be taken inside and outside Parliament House during the crucial session, while additional police and Rangers will also be deployed outside the House to prevent possible protests by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) members.
