In response to Pathaan’s box office performance, Karan Johar wrote in his most recent social media post that “love forever trumps hate.” Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham’s Pathaan was released on January 25 following demands for a boycott and demonstrations against the movie’s actors and crew in recent weeks. According to YRF, the movie earned 57 crore in India on its first day, making it the greatest Bollywood opening ever. Karan applauded the movie for making “100 crore and more in one day (global figures).” Shah Rukh, a “super star,” was also the subject of the filmmaker’s adoration, who dubbed him the “best of all time.”

Sharing a poster of Shah Rukh Khan from Pathaan, Karan Johar wrote on Instagram Stories, “Hits beyond a century!!! ₹100 crore and above in one day! GOAT (Greatest Of All Time) mega star SRK, visionary and legendary YRF and Adi (Aditya Chopra)… Sid (Siddharth Anand), Deepika, John!!! Wow.” Karan added a series of firecracker emojis to the note. The filmmaker further wrote, “Love forever trumps hate! Mark this date…”

On Wednesday, Karan wrote a lengthy post on Instagram in which he congratulated Siddharth Anand and Aditya Chopra. Pathaan was said to as the “largest blockbuster” by him. Karan had shared the movie’s poster and added the following caption: “When was the last time I had such a good time at the movies? The biggest blockbuster ever is this one! Massive is the word! Shah Rukh Khan’s allure, charisma, superstardom, desirability, and pure genius… the hottest, beautiful and sensationally attractive agent you will ever discover Deepika Padukone, the sexiest and most appealing villain John Abraham…”

Karan had also added in his note, “Brilliantly directed and conceptualised by Sid (Siddharth Anand)! He knows how to mount a film like very few can… I am so so so proud of my BFF (best friend) the invisible Aditya Chopra!!! You may never see him! But his vision and brilliance is insurmountable! And as for the KING! He went nowhere he just waited for the right time to rule! Love you bhai Shah Rukh Khan!!!”

After being released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, Pathaan grossed 57 crore at the domestic box office on day one as Yash Raj Films. The movie, which also stars Dimple Kapadia and Ashutosh Rana in addition to Shah Rukh, Deepika, and John, is Shah Rukh’s return to acting in a starring role following Zero (2018).
