Pakistan is experiencing another episode of slow internet services nationwide, with many users reporting decreased performance on various websites, especially social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. According to Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s (PTA) Director-General Ahmed Shamim Pirzada, internet users in Pakistan can anticipate enduring slow and degraded services for the next two to three months.
Users from different cities and using various Internet Service Providers (ISPs) have consistently reported a decline in internet speed and disruptions in online services in recent days. Notably, on January 20, 2024, Pakistan faced a significant internet outage, resulting in users across the country experiencing slow internet and being unable to access social media platforms.
The PTA issued a statement on social media, explaining that the recent internet disruption was due to a technical fault, which has been promptly fixed, and internet services have been restored nationwide.
However, Director-General Ahmed Shamim Pirzada mentioned in a press conference that similar outages may happen in the future. He stated, “You may experience this for the next two or three months,” indicating potential challenges in internet services.
