The frightening event occurred around 2:30 p.m. on January 18, with Slater attempting to steal Onyx. Slater grabbed Onyx’s leash, ignored Zacharias, and fled with the dog, jumping into a waiting car. Despite Zacharias’ pleas for help, no one intervened as the alleged thieves locked the car doors.
