Suzuki Alto sees remarkable sales surge in January 2024

The Suzuki Alto, a highly popular passenger car in Pakistan known for its engine capacity below 1000 cc, has seen a notable surge in sales during January 2024, both in comparison to the previous month and the previous year.

The Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) recently published a report on vehicle sales for the past month. Despite encountering multiple plant shutdowns, the increased sales of the Alto model contributed to overall gains for the Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company.

In January, Suzuki Alto witnessed the sale of 2,983 units, a stark contrast to the mere 44 units sold during the same period the previous year. Furthermore, the month-on-month sales also witnessed an uptick, with 2,099 units sold in December 2023.

However, the overall sales of the Suzuki Alto during the first seven months of the fiscal year 2023–24 have declined compared to the same period the previous year.

While the Japanese company sold 16,383 units in the current fiscal year, the previous fiscal year’s sales stood at 27,658 units.

Despite this, the Suzuki Alto remains one of the top-selling hatchbacks in Pakistan, with its reputation for reliability, cost-effective maintenance, and strong resale value attracting many commuters.

The 660cc car is particularly favored for its suitability for daily commuting and is often hailed as the “common man’s car,” despite the top variant’s price hovering around Rs 3 million.

In terms of pricing, the Suzuki Alto VX is priced at Rs 2,251,000, the Alto VXR at Rs 2,612,000, the Alto VXR AGS at Rs 2,799,000, and the Alto AGS at Rs 2,935,000.
