Rain, snowfall expected in Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted rain accompanied by wind, thunderstorms, isolated hailstorms, and snowfall in the hills for Peshawar and parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa from Sunday evening to Tuesday.
According to the synoptic situation, a westerly wave is expected to enter Balochistan on Sunday night, likely extending its influence to the upper regions of Pakistan by Monday.
Under these circumstances, cloudy weather with light to moderate rain, wind, thunderstorms, and snowfall in the hilly areas is anticipated in various districts including Chitral, Dir, Swat, Shangla, Kohistan, Buner, Mansehra, Abbottabad, Haripur, Swabi, Mardan, Charsadda, Nowshera, Peshawar, Mohmand, Bajaur, Khyber, Kurram, Kohat, Bannu, Waziristan, and Dera Ismail Khan over the next few days.
Snowfall may disrupt traffic in regions such as Naran, Kaghan, Dir, Swat, Kohistan, Mansehra, Abbottabad, and Shangla on Monday night and Tuesday. Wind thunderstorms could potentially cause damage to loose structures like electric poles and solar panels.
In Peshawar, the minimum temperature is expected to range between 05-07 degrees Celsius on Monday and Tuesday.
Meanwhile, cold and dry weather prevailed across most parts of the province during the past 24 hours, with partly cloudy conditions and freezing temperatures observed in the upper districts. Malam Jabba received 05 mm of rain and 02 inches of snowfall.
Kalam remained the coldest place in the country with temperatures dropping to 12 degrees Celsius below freezing. In Peshawar, the minimum temperature recorded was 05 degrees Celsius, with a relative humidity of 61 percent in the morning.
