Walking is a simple way to burn calories and stay fit. It offers numerous health benefits to people of all ages and easily fits one’s routine.
But, you might make several walking mistakes unknowingly. They can be avoided by following certain precautions and get the best of your efforts.
1. Wrong Shoes
Uncomfortable shoes can leave you with some unpleasant experiences and may harm your feet. Make sure to have a pair that fits you well. Your shoes should be lightweight to provide perfect support.
2. Using Cellphone
Staring at your phone during a walk can be quite troublesome. It can restrict you from completing your target and usually leads to injuries.
3. Not using arms
Swing your arm back and forth while walking. Move your arms from the shoulders, and not from elbows. Keep them at the midsection of your body.
4. Too much cloth layering
Just like the suitable shoe pair, you need to choose your walking outfit carefully. The clothes should be loose, comfortable and made of breathable fabric to ensure better body movements.
5. Walking slowly
For effective results, you need to walk a bit faster than you normally do throughout the day. Brisk walking is an effective workout of the body.
6. Skipping warm-up
A warm-up prepares your muscles. After warming-up start slow and gradually increase your speed. Slow down when you are done rather than stopping abruptly.
7. Poor posture
During a walk, keep your chin parallel to the ground and do not lean backwards or forward. Leaning or hunching your back may lead to severe back pain.
8. Poor hydration
Sweating makes you lose water. Drink enough water before and after the walk for optimum hydration. Avoid sugary drinks as much as you can.
