RISALPUR: Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir has said, “We are ‘fully aware’ of our constitutional limits and anticipate others to honor the Constitution.

Addressing the cadet passing-out ceremony at Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Asghar Khan Academy, here on Thursday, the COAS as the chief guest highlighted Article 19 of the Constitution, which delineates the boundaries of freedom of speech and expression, urging, “Those who disregard the explicit limitations on freedom of expression outlined in the Constitution shouldn’t accuse others.”

He commended the PAF for consistently meeting the nation’s expectations, stressing the significance of a robust air force in deterring aggression. He praised the PAF’s valor and professionalism in safeguarding airspace, citing the exemplary downing of Indian aircraft in February 2019.

He added that the PAF had always lived up to the expectations of the nation.

Addressing the cadets, he emphasized their pivotal role as custodians of the skies and promoters of regional harmony.

Gen Munir urged them to embody character, courage, and competence, underscoring that their conduct reflects not only personal integrity but also institutional values.

He advised the cadets to emulate the bravery of national heroes like Rashid Minhas, Sarfraz Rafiqui, and M.M. Alam, who sacrificed for the nation’s dignity. Stressing the importance of truth over falsehood, he urged them to remain committed to Pakistan’s defense and loyal to the state.

Gen Munir expressed the confidence that the passed out cadets will never hesitate to sacrifice for the defence, honour and dignity of the motherland.

He also cautioned against the destabilizing impact of the arms race and highlighted the transformative influence of technologies like artificial intelligence and quantum computing on air power.

Regarding the situation in Indian-occupied Kashmir, COAS Gen Munir condemned indiscriminate violence and affirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.

He reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to providing moral, political, and diplomatic backing to Kashmiris in their struggle for freedom.

Turning to prevailing situation in Palestine, the Army Chief said Gaza war is the latest example of the sufferings that wars can bring. He said indiscriminate killing of elderly people, women and children in Gaza is proof that violence is increasing in the world.
