In an operation in Peshawar’s Hassan Khel area, two Pakistan Army soldiers, including a captain, were martyred, as per the military’s media wing.
The Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) released a statement that the operation was initiated based on the “reported presence of terrorists” in the vicinity.
The statement further detailed that the soldiers “effectively engaged” the terrorists, neutralizing five and wounding three.
In the course of the fierce firefight, “Captain Hussain Jahangir (age: 25 years, resident of Rahim Yar Khan District) along with Havildar Shafiq Ullah (age: 36 years, resident of District Karak), led their troops valiantly and were martyred,” the ISPR conveyed.
The ISPR also mentioned that a sanitisation operation is ongoing to clear any remaining terrorists.
The resolve of the security forces to eradicate terrorism is only strengthened by such sacrifices, the ISPR affirmed.
The CRSS’s Q1 2024 Security Report disclosed that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan accounted for 92% of all fatalities and 86% of attacks in the first quarter of 2024, including terrorism and security operations.
The report highlighted that Pakistan experienced at least 432 deaths and 370 injuries from 245 terror-related incidents, with 281 fatalities being civilians and security personnel.
