The Sindh government, supported by the World Bank, has announced ambitious plans to provide comprehensive solar systems to the public at a remarkably low cost of 7,000 rupees.

According to reports from a private television channel, the initiative aims to equip 200,000 households across the province, with 50,000 residences in Karachi alone. Each system will be capable of operating one fan and three LED bulbs.

The director of Sindh Solar Energy confirmed that 6,656 solar systems will be distributed in every district of the province.

The project is scheduled to begin in October. These solar setups will include essential components like solar panels, charge controllers, and batteries.

Distribution is expected to commence in October, pending the completion of the procurement process.

The World Bank has pledged a significant $32 million towards this initiative, with the potential for further expansion in the future.

Currently, Sindh generates 400 megawatts of electricity from solar sources. It is anticipated that this project will significantly increase solar power production within the province.
