Sunita Marshall and Hassan Ahmed are a loving couple who embrace their inter-faith marriage with grace. They’ve openly shared their journey of raising their children in a blended religious environment, where their kids have grown up practicing Islam. With two children to nurture, they prioritize teaching values like tolerance, unity, and respect for all religions across the globe.
During an appearance on Masarrat Misbah’s show, Hassan Ahmed spoke candidly about their unique parenting approach. He reflected on the commonality of following inherited beliefs without deeper understanding, saying, “Many of us adopt our religion by birth, without truly studying or evaluating its principles. If our faith is purely based on ancestral ties, it may not be the most genuine path. Education should precede personal conviction.”
Ahmed also shared his perspective on the hypothetical scenario of his children exploring Christianity, saying, “Although it hasn’t crossed my mind, I would approach it with openness and dialogue. I would listen to their thoughts and reasons rather than reacting with anger. My daughter, especially, approaches such matters with logical reasoning.”
Reflecting on his personal growth, Ahmed acknowledged, “I used to harbor the aggression often seen in society. Marrying someone from a different religious background may have been a way for Allah to help me shed that intolerance, while still holding onto the core values of Islam.”
