Punjab cities heavy rain, face power outages

Recent rains have brought a welcome change to the weather in various cities across Punjab, including Lahore, Gujranwala, and Hafizabad.

In Lahore, areas such as Davis Road, Mughalpura, Gowalmandi, and Lakshmi Chowk saw significant rainfall, with Achhra, Muslim Town, Faisal Town, Township, and Harbanspura also receiving substantial showers.

While the rain has offered relief from the summer heat, it has also caused power outages in several areas.

Deputy Commissioner Rafia Haider has directed all relevant agencies to remain vigilant to manage the situation effectively. The downpour extended to Bhimber, Azad Kashmir, where thunder and lightning accompanied the rain.

The Kirthar mountain range also experienced rainfall, resulting in water flowing into the Hub River. This influx of water has partially damaged an alternate route, and repair work is underway.

Overall, the rainfall has brought much-needed relief from the high temperatures but has also underscored the importance of having efficient infrastructure to handle such weather events.

Authorities are actively working to restore normalcy and ensure the safety of residents in the affected regions.
