Government Reduces Petrol Price by Rs2.07 Per Liter
ISLAMABAD: The federal government has announced a reduction in petrol prices by Rs2.07 per liter, bringing the new price to Rs247.03 per liter, down from Rs249.10. This adjustment will take effect from October 1, according to an official notification issued on Monday.
In addition to the petrol price cut, the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) has been reduced by Rs3.40, lowering it from Rs249.69 to Rs246.29 per liter. The prices of kerosene oil and light diesel have also been decreased by Rs3.57 and Rs1.03 per liter, respectively.
Products | Existing price | New price | Increase/Decrease |

High-Speed Diesel (HSD) | 249.69 | 246.29 | -3.40 |
Kerosene | 158.47 | 154.9 | -3.57 |
Light Diesel Oil | 141.93 | 140.9 | -1.03 |
Over the past two months, under the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the government has reduced the price of petrol by a total of Rs28.57 and diesel by Rs37.51.
Earlier, on September 15, the government had announced a Rs10 per liter cut in petrol prices and a Rs13.06 reduction for high-speed diesel.
Petrol, commonly known as mogas, is primarily used by private vehicles, motorcycles, and rickshaws, with price fluctuations having a significant impact on middle and lower-middle-class households. High-speed diesel, which is widely used in trucks, buses, trains, and agricultural equipment, directly affects the transport sector and can drive up the prices of essential goods such as vegetables and food items.
