
19 years passes since devastating 2005 earthquake in Pakistan
19 years have passed since the 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck Pakistan on the morning of October 8, 2005.
The earthquake badly affected some areas of Azad Kashmir and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in 3 million people being displaced and 88 thousand people losing their lives, according to the initial estimates of the devastating happening.
Due to the earthquake, the beautiful city of Balakot, located on the banks of the Kunhar River, was completely destroyed. There were heartbreaking scenes of destruction in many areas, including Muzaffarabad to Bagh, Rawalkot in Azad Kashmir.
The death anniversary of the earthquake martyrs will be observed across Azad Jammu and Kashmir including the capital Muzaffarabad, today.
The main event in Muzaffarabad will be held at the University Ground, in which the Prime Minister, Ministers, Chief Secretary, and IG Police will mark their attendance.
