Kareena Kapoor Opens Up About Backlash She Faced for Naming Her Son Taimur

Kareena Kapoor recently addressed the controversy surrounding the name of her elder son, Taimur Ali Khan.

In a video shared by MissMalini Showbiz on Instagram, the actress reflected on how the backlash affected her and praised her husband, actor Saif Ali Khan, for his calm demeanor during the situation.

She recalled her grandfather, Raj Kapoor’s, advice: “If people are talking about you, good or bad, they are talking about you; otherwise, why would they talk?” He also reminded her that to thrive as a superstar, she must learn to “take it in your stride” and advised her to have a “patthar ka dil” (be strong).

Kareena emphasized the importance of reminding Taimur about his family’s legacy, stating, “It’s important that you do something, your parents have done something.” She appreciated the support from Saif, who remained relaxed and assured throughout the controversy. “We need to be calm and we need to be sure,” he said, which helped them navigate the situation together.

The couple welcomed Taimur in December 2016, but the name sparked significant uproar, with some associating it with the historical figure Timur, a Turkish invader.

In a previous interview, Kareena mentioned that a well-known industry figure criticized her choice of name. Saif acknowledged the public’s concerns, stating he understood why people were upset. The couple also has another son, Jehangir Ali Khan (Jeh), born in 2021.
