Senator belonging to the ruling Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf, Senator Faisal Javed Khan on Wednesday said that Pakistan will soon create its first sex offenders database.

This announcement came after a day he said the ruling party, PTI aims to propose stricter punishments for child molesters and rapists.

Speaking to the media in Islamabad, Senator Faisal Javed said sexual abusers often blackmail survivors and their families, and that a database of rapists will be set up. He added, that a consensus was needed for public hangings of rapists and that the rapists of women and children will be punished severely. He said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has made it clear that no concession will be given to any sex offender.

“Such criminals often blackmail victims of abuse,” said Senator Faisal Javed Khan, adding that the government will do legislation to hand over strict punishment to sexual abusers and to keep the identities of victims secret.

He also said that there should be a debate on public hangings of the rapists.

Shehbaz Sharif should resign:

Referring to the comments made by the leader of the opposition and Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz leader, Shehbaz Sharif, he said that Shehbaz should not let go of it so easily.

“Just because he has apologized we will not let go it so easily,” he said, adding that Sharif should resign over his insensitive remarks.

A day earlier, Shehbaz has apologised via a tweet for his remarks in the National Assembly where he credited his brother and former Prime Minister of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif for constructing the Lahore-Sialkot motorway. He said he was sincerely sorry for his remarks that came across as insensitive and that he is as devastated as the nation on the unfortunate incident.

Couldn’t properly contextualize my comment during the NA speech and it came across as insensitive. I didn’t mean it that way and am sincerely sorry for it, Shehbaz had tweeted.
