In the UK, heavy snow and ice forced temporary runway closures at several major airports, including Manchester, Liverpool, and Newcastle.

Manchester Airport, the country’s third-largest, shut its runways early in the morning but resumed operations by 9:45 a.m. after snow clearance efforts. Liverpool’s John Lennon Airport faced a similar closure, reopening by 10:15 a.m.

Meanwhile, Newcastle International Airport warned passengers of continued delays due to ongoing snowfall, as crews worked diligently to maintain safety.

Severe winter weather caused extensive disruptions across Europe over the weekend, impacting air, rail, and road travel.

In the UK, Birmingham Airport temporarily closed for several hours around midnight to clear snow but resumed operations thanks to the efforts of dedicated staff.

Bristol Airport also closed on Saturday evening due to adverse weather, with potential knock-on effects on Sunday departures.

Train services across England, Scotland, and Wales were affected by speed restrictions and line closures, as announced by National Rail.

National Highways issued a severe weather alert, urging drivers to exercise caution throughout the weekend.

In Germany, severe weather conditions including snow, black ice, and poor visibility caused major travel disruptions. At Frankfurt Airport, the country’s largest, 120 out of approximately 1,090 scheduled flights were canceled due to the hazardous conditions.

The heavy snowfall across Europe has triggered widespread warnings and advisories, with authorities closely monitoring the situation and working to address the challenges posed by the extreme weather.
