Balochistan: The Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court has taken suo-motu notice of the tragic murder of a young couple, Bano Satak Zai and Ahsanullah Samalai, in Dergari, a suburb of Quetta.

The victims, who were reportedly killed after their love marriage, met a brutal end three days before Eid-ul-Adha.

The court has summoned the Additional Chief Secretary and the Inspector General of Police (IGP) of Balochistan for tomorrow to provide details and ensure swift justice.

In a significant development, Judicial Magistrate Akhtar Shah of Quetta ordered the exhumation of Bano Satak Zai’s body. The grave was excavated in the presence of the magistrate, and the body will undergo a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

Meanwhile, Sardar Sher Baz Satak Zai, the nominated suspect in the case, appeared before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Court 1 in Quetta. The police requested his physical remand, which was approved by Judge Muhammad Mubeen. The suspect was remanded into police custody for two days to facilitate investigation.

The incident drew widespread attention after a video of the murders went viral on social media. The killings in Dergari, which occurred shortly before Eid-ul-Adha, have sparked outrage and calls for justice.

The case has also prompted intervention from the provincial government; Balochistan Chief Minister Sardar Sardar Siraiz Baloch expressed concern and ordered immediate police action.
