UNITED NATIONS: Pakistan and China have issued a strong warning to Israel at the UN Security Council, urging it to abandon any plans to occupy Gaza, calling such actions a dangerous provocation and a violation of international law.
During the emergency meeting in New York, Pakistan’s envoy Asim Iftikhar condemned Israel’s recent announcement about taking full control of Gaza. He said Pakistan firmly opposes this plan and called for immediate action to stop the ongoing atrocities in Gaza. “We must work together to end the genocide and restore peace. The Israeli aggression must stop now,” he stressed.
The meeting was requested by the UK, France, Denmark, Slovenia, and Greece following heightened tensions after Israel’s latest declaration.
China’s UN representative, Fu Cong, also strongly opposed any Israeli attempt to seize Gaza, stating, “Gaza belongs to the Palestinian people. Only an immediate ceasefire can save lives and pave the way for the release of hostages.” He warned that continued military operations would lead to more deaths and urged Israel to halt its actions.
Fu Cong further criticized Israel for using humanitarian aid as a political weapon, calling it “unacceptable.”
The warnings come after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that eliminating Hamas is now “unavoidable,” reigniting fears of a wider escalation in the region.
