KARACHI:  Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has approved an increase in the salaries of Directors Finance serving in the province’s public universities, on the recommendation of Sindh Higher Education Commission Chairman, Prof Dr Tariq Rafi.

According to an official notification issued by the provincial government, the salary package has been revised under MP Scale-II, raising the total monthly salary of university Directors Finance to Rs448,280.

The notification, issued by Section Officer Kamal Ahmed of the Universities & Boards Department, states that the revised salary includes: basic pay: Rs263,180, house rent allowance: Rs95,700, utilities allowance: Rs11,970 and monetization allowance: Rs77,430

The notification further mentions that the revised package will take immediate effect.

It is to be remembered that Chairman Sindh HEC Prof Dr Tariq Rafi also sent a summary to the Chief Minister Sindh, stating that the Director Finance in the Chartered Universities, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces is appointed on a regular basis in BPS-20 on a regular basis.

The summary added that due to the low salary package, the directors did not join the finance or refused to join, to fill this gap, the Sindh government appointed several directors on the search committee’s recommendations on the recommendations of the search committee.

According to the summary, the Chairman Sindh HEC again recommended that the Chief Minister Sindh should fix the salary of the Director Finance at least Rs 500,000 in order to maintain the importance of the Director Finance and to maintain the eligible people in the universities.
