President Zardari visits China’s advanced aircraft manufacturing complex
President Asif Ali Zardari made a historic visit to the aircraft complex of the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC) as the Supreme Commander of the Pakistan Armed Forces.
The AVIC complex plays a key role in China’s defense industry and produces advanced fighter jets, including the J-10C. President Zardari also traveled from Chengdu to Mianyang on a high-speed electric train equipped with an earthquake warning system. He was briefed on the train’s operations, services, and safety features, and praised it as a remarkable piece of engineering.
During his visit, President Zardari said China’s innovation and technology offer valuable lessons for Pakistan and other nations. He was accompanied by Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Asifa Bhutto, Saleem Mandviwalla, Pakistani Ambassador Khalil Hashmi, and Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zaidong.
At the AVIC complex, he met Chinese engineers and scientists and received briefings on the J-10, JF-17, and J-20 stealth fighter jets, as well as on drones, automated systems, and multi-domain operations. He said the J-10 and JF-17 jets have greatly strengthened the Pakistan Air Force and performed impressively during Operation Banyan al-Marsous and the Battle of Haq in May 2025.
President Zardari called the AVIC complex a symbol of China’s technological strength and the deep strategic partnership between Pakistan and China. He is the first foreign head of state to visit this advanced aircraft facility.
