ZIARAT: Assistant Commissioner (AC) Ziarat, Muhammad Afzal, and his son, who were abducted nearly a month ago, have been killed, authorities confirmed.
Their bodies were recovered from the district’s Zizri area.
According to Levies officials, the abductors had recently released a video showing Afzal and his son pleading for their release and urging that the captors’ demands be met.
Deputy Commissioner Ziarat, Zakaullah, said that Muhammad Afzal and his son were kidnapped by militants on August 10 from the Zizri area of Ziarat. A bounty of Rs50 million had been announced for information leading to the arrest or identification of the culprits.
Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfaraz Bugti strongly condemned the incident, calling it a “cowardly and inhuman move”.
He said that the culprits will be brought to justice and those involved in such crimes will not be able to survive.
The Chief Minister, while expressing solidarity with the affected family, assured that the government would use all the resources and detect the accused.
On the other hand, Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi strongly condemned the killing of AC Afzal and his son, declaring him a martyr and paying tribute to his sacrifice.
He said that Mohammad Afzal gained the highest status of martyrdom while paying his duties. Late was a diligent and duty officer who will always be remembered.
The Federal Minister expressed his determination that those responsible for this brutal action would be punished.
