
Polling underway
KARACHI: Polling is underway for 28 local government seats across 14 districts of Sindh, according to the Provincial Election Commission.
Voting began at 8:00 AM and will continue uninterrupted until 4:00 PM. Officials said polling started on time, with voters turning out in large numbers to exercise their right to vote.
The by-elections are being held in various councils of Hyderabad, Dadu, Jamshoro, Matiari, Sukkur, Ghotki, and Khairpur, while polling is also taking place in Karachi East, West, Keamari, Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Badin, and Thatta.
A total of 243,187 voters are registered for these by-elections, including 133,038 men and 110,154 women, according to the Election Commission spokesperson.
Strict security measures have been implemented across all districts to ensure that the by-elections are conducted in a free, fair, and peaceful manner, the Election Commission said.
Provincial Election Commissioner Sindh has directed the concerned authorities to remain vigilant and fully prepared throughout the polling process.
He urged citizens to cast their votes without fear and actively participate in the democratic process by visiting their respective polling stations.
