Several areas of Karachi receive light and heavy rain
Karachi: Parts of Karachi experienced light to moderate rainfall on Saturday evening, bringing relief to residents after days of humid weather. The showers, which began in the afternoon, continued intermittently in several parts of the city.
According to reports, North Karachi, Nagan Chowrangi, and North Nazimabad witnessed moderate rain, while Orangi Town, Baldia Town, and surrounding areas received light showers. Other localities, including Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Nazimabad, and SITE Area, also experienced brief spells of rain accompanied by cool winds that lowered the temperature across the city.
The change in weather was welcomed by Karachiites, who came out to enjoy the pleasant evening in parks, tea spots, and along Seaview. However, the rainfall also led to minor traffic jams on major roads such as Shahrah-e-Faisal, University Road, and MA Jinnah Road, as commuters struggled through slippery streets and puddles formed due to poor drainage.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) reported that more light rain and drizzles are expected in Karachi and its adjoining areas in the coming hours, under the influence of a weak monsoon system from the Arabian Sea.
Citizens have been advised to drive carefully and avoid unnecessary travel in low-lying areas prone to waterlogging. Despite the brief inconvenience, residents expressed joy at the refreshing change in weather, calling it a much-needed break from the heat and humidity that had gripped the city in recent days.
