Renowned actress and producer Javeria Saud recently opened up about a troubling encounter from the early stages of her career, revealing that she once had to physically defend herself against an overzealous fan who repeatedly invaded her privacy.
The unsettling incident, which occurred before her marriage, involved a man who began showing up at her home uninvited, escalating his behaviour to the point of daily appearances with flowers and gifts.
In a candid interview, Javeria described the discomfort and anxiety she experienced:
“There was a man who started waiting outside my house every day. He’d be there when I got home sometimes with gifts, sometimes with flowers. It became really disturbing.”
Despite growing concern, Javeria said she remained silent in the beginning a reflection of the cultural expectations many women face.
“At that time, girls were told to stay quiet. We were expected to tolerate things silently because of societal norms. But honestly, the person causing the problem should be the one afraid.”
The situation took a critical turn when the fan finally confronted her directly.
“He said something like, ‘You act innocent like you don’t know I’m here for you. I’m your biggest fan.’ That was my breaking point,” she recalled. “I grabbed my handbag it was full of makeup and pretty heavy and I hit him straight in the face.”
She went on to publicly shame him for creating a scene, saying:
“I told him clearly people have been watching your drama for months. Enough is enough.”
The matter worsened when it was discovered that the man had been hiding in an abandoned house next to hers, making it harder to avoid him. Eventually, her father and uncle got involved, tracked down the individual, and formally complained to his family, demanding he stop the harassment.
Javeria further revealed that such encounters, coupled with other forms of mistreatment in the entertainment industry, had once made her consider leaving acting altogether.
“It wasn’t just this one situation. Women in this industry face a pattern of disrespect. It’s something I had to endure, and sadly, many still do.”
