Pakistan raises objection to India–Afghanistan joint statement
Pakistan has conveyed strong reservations to Afghanistan regarding the recent India-Afghanistan joint statement. The Afghan ambassador was summoned to the Foreign Office and formally informed of Pakistan’s concerns.
According to the Foreign Office, the Additional Secretary for West Asia and Afghanistan briefed the Afghan envoy on Pakistan’s objections.
The Foreign Office also expressed concern over remarks made by Afghanistan’s acting foreign minister.
A spokesperson for the Foreign Office said that referring to Jammu and Kashmir as part of India is a clear violation of UN Security Council resolutions and the region’s disputed legal status.
The joint statement issued by India and Afghanistan, the spokesperson added, reflects complete insensitivity to the sacrifices of the Kashmiri people and their legitimate struggle for the right to self-determination.
