ISLAMABAD, October 12, 2025: Pakistan has expressed deep concern over the unjustified aggression by the Afghan Taliban, Khawarij militants, and Indian-backed elements along the Pak-Afghan border on the night of October 11–12. The Foreign Office said such unprovoked actions aim to destabilize the region and go against the spirit of peaceful and cooperative relations between the two neighbouring countries.

Exercising its right to self-defence, Pakistan’s forces effectively repelled the attacks across the border and, in doing so, inflicted heavy losses on the Taliban and allied militant groups. Notably, these groups had been using their bases inside Afghanistan to plan and support terrorist attacks against Pakistan. Furthermore, the statement added that Pakistan’s response was precise and measured, ensuring civilian safety and avoiding collateral damage.

At the same time, Pakistan values dialogue, diplomacy, and peaceful coexistence with Afghanistan. Nevertheless, the government will continue to monitor the situation closely and, if necessary, take every possible step to protect its territory and people. In conclusion, it warned that Pakistan will respond strongly and decisively to any future provocations.

Pakistan also rejected remarks made by Afghanistan’s interim foreign minister during his visit to India, calling them baseless attempts to divert attention from the presence of terrorists operating inside Afghanistan. The statement reminded the Taliban government that the UN Monitoring Team has repeatedly confirmed the existence of such elements on Afghan soil.

“The statement emphasized that fighting terrorism is a shared responsibility. It urged the Taliban to stop blaming others and ensure that Afghan soil is not used for terrorism against any country. Moreover, Pakistan has repeatedly raised concerns about the presence of Khawarij and Indian-backed elements in Afghanistan and therefore expects the Taliban to take concrete and verifiable action against them.”

Reaffirming its commitment to peace and humanity, Pakistan noted that it has hosted nearly four million Afghan refugees for more than forty years. The government will continue to regulate their stay in line with international laws and norms.

The statement concluded by saying that Pakistan desires a peaceful, stable, and prosperous Afghanistan, governed by a truly representative leadership that works for the well-being of its people and regional harmony.
