
NADRA
ISLAMABAD: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has launched a new digital system to register births and deaths at hospitals and health centers across the country, providing citizens with a more efficient and transparent service.
Developed in collaboration with provincial governments, the system aims to make the registration process faster, more accurate, and easier to access.
Acting on the directives of the Federal Minister for Interior, NADRA is actively working to enhance the national registration infrastructure and address existing gaps. The initiative is part of the National Biometric and Registration Policy Framework, which was approved by the Prime Minister of Pakistan on January 1, 2025.
NADRA says work is underway at the project’s test phase and that the scope will be spread across the country when preparations are completed by the provincial governments in connection with the wider implementation.
Under the Pilot Project, NADRA has provided this system in more than 50 hospitals and centers across the country, including PIMS, CDA and Federal Government, Lady Aitchison Hospital in Lahore, Bolan Medical College in Quetta, DHQ, Sheikh Zayed and Aria Hospital.
Apart from this, DHQ Hospital Haripur and Batkhela in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, DHQ Hospital Mirpur in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Saif-ur -Rehman Hospital in Gilgit, several hospitals in Hyderabad and Matiari hospitals and basic centers are health.
Under the automated system during the Pilot Project, 4,000 notifications of birth and 407 deaths have been received across the country so far.
Under the new system, citizens will be able to register births and deaths either through NADRA’s mobile application or by visiting their respective Union Council offices.
As part of the pilot phase, the service is already operational in three districts of Punjab with successful results and is expected to be expanded across the entire province in the coming weeks.
NADRA has also been working rapidly on the delivery of this modern system in all the government and non -governmental hospitals and centers of all government and non -governmental hospitals and centers of the country. Citizens across the country will be able to benefit from this digital and automated system after this facility is provided in all hospitals.
NADRA is also working on partnership with the concerned provincial governments to provide this facility in other provinces, which will be available all over the country after completion.
