NEW DELHI: Flights between Amritsar and Kabul are set to resume soon, marking a significant step toward restoring India–Afghanistan connectivity amid ongoing regional tensions.

Announcing the development, AAP Member of Parliament Vikramjit Singh Sahney described the move as a “major breakthrough” for bilateral relations, particularly in the areas of trade, humanitarian engagement, and regional transport links.

The decision comes as Pakistan continues to block the Attari–Wagah trade route, disrupting overland access between India and Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi expressed his government’s intent to pursue “peaceful and cooperative relations with all neighboring countries,” emphasizing that enhanced air connectivity with India would serve as a bridge for regional economic stability.

Officials from both sides are finalizing operational details, with flights expected to restart in the coming weeks.
