HYDERABAD: Federal Minister for Health Mustafa Kamal has emphasized that teachers must not confine themselves merely to imparting knowledge but should also play an active role in shaping students’ character and moral values.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of Iqra University Hyderabad, the minister said education is a fundamental pillar of every society, yet the lack of higher education facilities in an important city like Hyderabad remains a pressing concern that must be addressed.
He noted that the true progress of a society cannot be achieved solely through the issuance of degrees, stressing that intellectual, moral, and ethical training of students is equally vital.
“Unfortunately, in our society, character is treated as a private matter,” Kamal said. “When we marry off our daughters, we inquire deeply about the groom’s background and character — yet when it comes to those who decide the future of 240 million people, we overlook their integrity.”
At the end of the ceremony, the federal minister congratulated the university administration on the establishment of the institution and expressed hope that Iqra University Hyderabad would become a beacon not only of academic excellence but also of moral and ethical development.
