LAHORE: The long-standing difficulty of getting or renewing a driving license in Punjab has finally been eased with the launch of a new initiative — the province’s first-ever Mobile Police Station and Licensing Unit Project.

Chief Minister of Punjab, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, formally inaugurated the mobile unit and inspected its different sections during the ceremony. She also met with staff members and emphasized the importance of serving the public with respect and empathy.

The Mobile Police Station will offer a range of services, including FIR registration, issuance, and renewal of driving licenses, and other related facilities. The unit will also issue learner, regular, international, and women’s driving licenses on the spot.

Maryam Nawaz handed over the keys of the mobile station to the concerned officials and called the project a revolutionary step toward providing policing and licensing services at people’s doorsteps.

Officials added that the mobile police stations will visit girls’ schools, workplaces, and remote areas, helping citizens save both time and effort.
