Govt, parliament to decide on sending troops to Gaza: DG ISPR
Any decision to send army troops to Gaza for peacekeeping duties would be made by the government and parliament, Director General of the Inter-Services Public Relations Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif has said.
DG ISPR revealed that over 1,600 foreign terrorists have been killed in security operations so far. He noted that in Afghanistan’s border regions and the Tirah Valley, drug cultivation and smuggling have become a major source of funding for terrorist groups.
He further shared that during a recent meeting in Türkiye, brotherly nations heard and understood Pakistan’s stance. Pakistan presented video evidence and documented proof showing that the Afghan Taliban and terrorist outfits are engaged in the narcotics trade to fund regional unrest.
The DG ISPR, in a separate session with senior journalists and social media influencers, shared details of counterterrorism operations conducted during 2025. He informed that 62,113 intelligence-based operations (IBOs) have been carried out this year, resulting in the killing of 1,667 terrorists, while 1,073 personnel embraced martyrdom.
He disclosed that 4,373 terrorism incidents occurred across the country in 2025, during which security forces, law enforcement agencies, and civilians bravely confronted the threats.
According to official figures, 584 Pakistan Army personnel, 133 law enforcement officers, and 356 civilians were martyred in these incidents.
The DG ISPR said that anti-terror operations are being conducted on a daily basis, with an average of 208 intelligence-based operations every day, aimed at completely dismantling terrorist networks.
In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa alone, 514 terrorist incidents were reported, during which 77 terrorists were killed. These operations also resulted in the martyrdom of 36 security personnel, one police officer, and 12 civilians, while 138 security officers, two policemen, and 11 civilians sustained injuries.
The DG ISPR reaffirmed that Pakistan’s security forces are making every possible sacrifice for the sake of peace and stability in the country. He lauded the nation’s continued support and unity in the ongoing fight against terrorism.
