KARACHI: The dengue outbreak continues to intensify in Karachi, with Sindh reporting 27 deaths since the start of the year.

According to the Sindh Health Department, a 30-year-old man from Hyderabad died of dengue in the past 24 hours. During the same period, the province reported 1,212 new infections — including 765 cases in Karachi and 447 in Hyderabad.

This year, Sindh has recorded a total of 12,750 dengue cases. Currently, 257 patients are under treatment in government hospitals and 156 in private facilities.

Karachi’s government hospitals have allocated 256 beds for dengue patients, while 165 beds are reserved in private hospitals. The city has 34 laboratories conducting dengue testing — 12 government-run and 22 privately operated.

In Hyderabad, 18 laboratories are providing dengue testing services, including 7 public and 11 private labs, the health department confirmed.
