ISLAMABAD: Petrol and diesel prices are likely to fall from January 1, 2026, as the government prepares a fortnightly price cut following a sharp decline in international crude oil prices.
According to official sources, the price of petrol is expected to be cut by up to Rs10.60 per litre, while high-speed diesel (HSD) could see a reduction of up to Rs8.59 per litre.
Kerosene oil is also likely to become cheaper by Rs8.92 per litre, whereas the price of light diesel oil (LDO) may be reduced by Rs6.62 per litre.
If the proposal is approved, the price of petrol will fall from the current Rs263.45 per litre to around Rs252.85 per litre. Similarly, the price of high-speed diesel is expected to decline from Rs265.65 to approximately Rs257.06 per litre.
The price of kerosene oil is anticipated to decrease from Rs180.54 to about Rs171.62 per litre.
The proposed reductions reflect easing trends in the international oil market and are expected to provide much-needed relief to consumers amid ongoing inflationary pressures.
