Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the government is committed to ensuring the rights of children to development, education, health care, their dignity and security under the UN Convention.

“Various programs have been launched to ensure the rule of law and the delivery of economic justice through various initiatives,” the premier added

The Prime minister further said that the government is constantly monitoring the situation of COVID-19 in the country and accordingly is taking all possible steps in collaboration with the provincial governments and partners to reduce its negative impact on the people.

He expressed these views in his message regarding Universal Children’s Day 2020 on Thursday.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said that Pakistan is today celebrating “Universal Children’s Day 2020” with the international community, which calls on us to protect the fundamental rights of children in accordance with the Constitution of Pakistan, the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights and the United Nations Convention.

He said that children are the most valuable resource of any nation and a guarantee of its future. The Government of Pakistan is well aware of its responsibilities towards its children and is committed to ensuring the rights of children to development, education, health care, dignity and security under the United Nations Convention.

The Prime Minister said that the present government has launched various programs to ensure the protection of children’s rights. A National Commission for the Protection of the Rights of the Child has been set up which is closely monitoring the situation of their rights. Two children are also represented in the commission, including a boy and a girl.

The Zainab Alert Response and Recovery Act 2020 has been implemented for the protection of missing and abducted children while the Juvenile Justice System Act 2018 and the ICT Child Protection Act 2018 have been implemented for the care and protection of minors. Have also been enforced.

He said that the manifesto of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) also provides opportunities for healthy food for children, friendly environment for sports, provision of education and promotion of mutual relations for children with disabilities.

The current government has launched programs such as health care for all children, changes in the way education is conducted, and youth empowerment. In addition, expanding social security infrastructure, providing clean drinking water and tackling challenges such as climate change is also part of the government’s priorities.

A system is being devised to take care of the needs of the people. The rule of law and the provision of economic justice are being ensured through various measures. The government is constantly monitoring the situation of COVID-19 in the country and accordingly is taking all possible steps in collaboration with the provincial governments and partners to reduce its negative impact on the people.

He said that the government was creating a welfare state where transparency would be guaranteed to all citizens. Among other priorities of the government, the creation of a violence-free society and the elimination of child abuse is also a top priority as the future of Pakistan is tied to our children.

I reaffirm my commitment to protect the rights of children so that they can be constructive members of society and the state and good citizens. “I am confident that government organizations, civil society organizations, human rights groups, corporates, the sector and international partners will come together on one platform.

It is not difficult to change anything and soon our children will be well,” he said. Children will be protected from upbringing, protection and other opportunities as facilities are now available to children in developed nations.
