Former India batsman Gautam Gambhir has pointed out the flaws with the Indian team following India’s 66-run defeat to Australia on Friday.

According to the details, Gautam Gambhir while commenting on rusty fielding and a weak bowling attack against Kangaroos, said that the problem of the team dealing with the sixth-bowler conundrum is not new.

He criticized the selection committee for having a sixth bowling option that resulted in the soppy performance of the Indian team against Australia.  “It’s been happening since what… the last World Cup. If Hardik Pandya is not fit, where is your sixth bowling option?”

As Hardik Pandya is injured, former India batsman felt the need for one more all-rounder who is capable of filling the extra bowler spot for India but remains apprehensive of his impact.

Let it be known that Australia defeated India in the first match of the ODI series with 66 runs after putting a target of 375 onboard.

Indian Skipper Virat Kohli said “Body language after 25 overs wasn’t great, that was the most disappointing part. Unfortunately, Hardik is not ready to bowl at the moment. Lapses in the field did not help. As a batting unit, we played positive cricket”

The match took place at the Sydney Cricket Ground. Australia captain Aaron Finch won the toss and elected to bat. Finch and Steve Smith scored centuries to power the hosts to a huge total of 374 for six after 50 overs.

Finch scored 114 runs from 124 balls, meanwhile, Smith slammed 105 from 66 deliveries. David Warner also contributed with the bat, scoring a half-century, and Glenn Maxwell scored a quickfire knock of 45 runs from 19 balls.

Mohammed Shami was the leading bowler for India, grabbing three wickets. Having been set a target of 375 runs, India lost Mayank Agarwal, Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer cheaply. Although, Shikhar Dhawan and Hardik Pandya tried to anchor their side’s chase, but they failed to take India past the line.
