Indian players and staff who were placed under isolation by Australian Authorities after the reported COVID-19 breach have now been cleared following the negative results.

According to the Indian cricket board (BCCI), players and support staff were tested on Sunday. “All tests have returned negative results,” the BCCI said in a statement on Monday.

The spokesperson of Cricket Australia (CA), said that Australia’s players and staff had also been cleared after tests on Sunday.

Five India cricketers were placed in isolation over the weekend while the Australian and Indian cricket boards investigated allegations of a breach of biosecurity protocols after a video surfaced showing the players eating at a Melbourne restaurant.

Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Prithvi Shaw, and Navdeep Saini were purportedly seen eating at an indoor restaurant in Melbourne in a video posted on social media.

Cricket Australia in a statement on Sunday that “The Board of Cricket Control India (BCCI) and CA are investigating the matter and seeking to determine whether the outing constitutes a breach of biosecurity protocols.”

As per protocol, players are allowed to eat out, following social distancing norms. The isolation protocols were put in place after consulting with medical teams.

The statement read, “The players – Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Shubman Gill, Prithvi Shaw, and Navdeep Saini – have been separated from the Indian and Australian squads but will still train in accordance with the strict protocols.”
