President-elect Joe Biden’s inauguration ceremony will be held on Wednesday (today). Jennifer Lopez, Lady Gaga, and others are all geared up to set the stage on fire.
Lady Gaga, the active supporter of Biden, will sing the national anthem whereas Jennifer Lopez will sing during the musical performance.
Actor Tom Hanks will host the 90-minutes of primetime television, a Covid-friendly replacement of celebrations. It will be broadcast across all major US networks and streaming platforms, except for Fox News. Fox News has primarily supported Mr. Trump during his presidency.
The primetime will feature Garth Brooks, Jon Bon Jovi, Demi Lovato, and Justin Timberlake.
Sources said that singer Jennifer Lopez will perform in the ceremony, Andrea Hall, a career firefighter, will lead in the Pledge of Allegiance. American poet Amanda Gorman will recite a poem. Moreover, an invocation will also be delivered by Father Leo O’Donovan, and a benediction by Reverend Dr. Silvester Beaman.
What happened in the past?
Musical performances were held in the past as well. In 2009, Aretha Franklin performed at Barack Obama’s inauguration. Beyonce performed at Obama’s inaugural ball.
President Obama called on Kelly Clarkson and Jennifer Hudson at the second inauguration in 2013. Beyonce sang the national anthem.
However, Elton John had declined the offer to perform during Donald Trump’s inauguration. Reports say that Celine Dion, Kiss, and Garth Brooks did the same. Rockettes, country artist Lee Greenwood, and the band 3 Doors Down performed.
